Singapore keen to further strengthen relations with Cambodia: President Tony Tan

As the members of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN,) Singapore and Cambodia will naturally grow close and continue on their path of integration. That is according to Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng who is on his state visit to Cambodia.
On January 8, President Tony Tan Keng spoke to over 200 Singaporeans in Cambodia. “Our trade and investment relationship with Cambodia is on cordial terms. Last year, Singapore was Cambodia’s eighth biggest trading partner and the third biggest investor,” said Dr Tan.
According to President Tan, Singapore has invested in various areass in Cambodia including but not limited to real estate, agriculture finance, logistics energy, and consumer products. The two countries are connected by air with 43 weekly flights, which is also paving the way for business partnerships, people-to-people exchanges, and tourism.
“Singapore is interested to strengthen her relations with Cambodia further,” said the Singaporean President.
This was President’s first visit to Cambodia. There are about 250 Singaporeans registered to work and live in Cambodia.
Singaporean President landed on Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia, on Sunday, January 8. He will be visiting Laos later. In Phnom Penh, he visited Independence Monument and laid a wreath to honor the war heroes. President will be seeing King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday.
